Flagship course. Four hours, keynote, or custom workshop
Operator Safety & Self-Defense from the Seated Position
Court defensible technique for operators and supervisors protecting themselves from the seated position. The aim is not to turn an operator into a fighter.
Chapter 01
Awareness and prevention come first, deliberately
The physical material is not the front of this course, and that ordering is the whole design. Situational awareness, prevention and de-escalation are taught before anything else, because the overwhelming majority of what threatens an operator can be read early and steered away from.
An operator who has been taught only technique will reach for technique. An operator who has been taught to see it coming usually does not have to.

The seated position is the actual problem
A bus operator is belted into a fixed seat, facing forward, with a wheel in front of them and a fare box beside them. Almost every self defense course ever written assumes a person who can move their feet, and none of that transfers.
This course covers what is genuinely available from that position against both armed and unarmed attackers: what can be protected, what can be blocked, what creates enough space to matter, and what is simply not possible while seated and should not be attempted.
Chapter 03
Court defensible, and documented
Everything taught here is framed around reasonableness and liability, because an operator who protects themselves has to be able to stand behind it afterwards. Bill is a court certified expert witness and a former police academy commander, and this section is where that shows.
The course closes on documentation and post incident considerations. What gets written down in the hour after an incident tends to decide how the following six months go for the operator and the agency both.
Formats
Four hours as a standalone course, a sixty minute keynote version, or a customized agency workshop shaped around your own fleet and incident history.
It pairs naturally with Roadworthy Communication, and many agencies run the two together so that operators meet the de-escalation material before they meet the physical material.
Taught by a retired 25 year police officer, detective and 5th degree black belt.
